Dorothy M. Morgan - Arnold

July 19, 1924 ~ January 4, 2018 (age 93)

Dorothy M. Morgan-Arnold, age 93, of Greenville, passed away early Thursday morning, January 4, 2018 at Twin Oaks Retirement Assisted Living in Gowen.  The daughter of Frank & Eacil (Ross) Dalton, she was born on July 19, 1924 in Carson City.  After graduating from Ionia High School, she married Basil Morgan. who preceded her in death.  She then married John Arnold, Jr. on October 26, 1974, and they enjoyed over 26 years of marriage until John passed away on January 10, 2001.  She was also preceded in death by her parents;  two infant siblings, Robert Dalton and Margie Dalton;  two sisters, Marion Ingraham and Emma "Margaret" Dow;  a brother, Glenn Dalton;  two granddaughters, Michelle Morgan, and Kimberly Morgan;  and a grandson, Robert Clifton "Bob Jr." Morgan on September 13, 2017.

A devoted wife and mother, Dorothy also worked outside the home at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company, had been a volunteer with the Montcalm Adult Reading Council, and was a member of the Red Hat Society.  She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Belding where she served as a Sunday School teacher, the church librarian, and served in many other roles, as well as having been president of the American Baptist Women's Mission Society.  In recent years she delighted in traveling with her brother, Carl, and his wife, Mary. 

Surviving are three sons, Robert & Norma Morgan, Carl & Cheryl Morgan, all of Greenville, and Kenneth Morgan & Mickie Baker of Ionia;  two step-sons, William & Ardith Arnold of Jenison, and Patrick & Karen Arnold of Kentwood; a brother, Carl & Mary Dalton of Hubbardston; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. 

Visitation is from 12-1 p.m. on Saturday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Associate Pastor Bart Bouman of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will take place in the spring at Evergreen Township Cemetery near Sheridan.

Dorothy's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Brenda and her team of caregivers at B's Compassionate Care and to Great Lakes Caring & Hospice.  Instead of flowers, Dorothy would have appreciated contributions in her memory to either the Montcalm Adult Reading Council or to the First Baptist Church of Belding.  Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
