Lois A. Guinnup, age 88, of Greenville, passed away Friday evening, June 7, 2013 at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice.
The daughter of Frank & Edna (Mills) Pixley, she was born on July 29, 1924 in Belding. On November 26, 1945, in Lansing, she married Glen E. Guinnup and together they raised two children and enjoyed almost 59 years of marriage.
Lois retired from the former United Memorial Hospital where she worked as a nurse’s aide and enjoyed watching and feeding her birds, working crossword puzzles, and camping.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen Guinnup on November 25, 2004; two sisters, Frances Pixley and Juanita Boyd; and a brother, Frank Pixley.
Surviving are her children, Carol & Jerry Fries and Glenn & Carole Guinnup, all of Greenville; five grandchildren, Kirk Guinnup, Max Guinnup, Rhiannon Guinnup, Leighann Fries, and Cora Fries; three great grandchildren, Shayla Guinnup, Aspen Burtenshaw, and Emmett Burtenshaw; a sister-in-law, Betty Pixley of Belding; several nieces and nephews; and a special life-long friend, Betty Gurden.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where envelopes for memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice will be available. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Greenville Church of the Nazarene, 10087 S. Greenville Road at Baker Road, with a time of food and fellowship following the service. Pastor Tim Deshaw will officiate and burial will take place privately at Oakfield Township Cemetery.
